MISSION STATEMENT | BEHIND THE DREAM | NEED FOR A DREAM ORGANIZATIONAL GOAL | LONG TERM GOALS | HOW DO WE MAKE IT HAPPEN? LONG TERM GOALS: Diligently work on changing the laws that effect the transitioning of youth throughout the foster care system. Produce a documentary video to be used nationwide as an educational tool for local, state and federal agencies as well as the private sector. The video will be available for use by members of the consortium, as well as by community members, and interested parties from other areas of the state, and nation, who are seeking solutions to the growing problems of foster care youth. The video will be used as a tool, to serve as a model for other Communities of Caring. Segments of the video will be used for television PSA's to be aired countywide. HOW DO WE MAKE IT HAPPEN: DREAM is actively seeking funding through state, federal and local grants as well as hosting fund-raisers to demonstrate that the community is behind this project. The local media is running stories, ads and promotional pieces to bring awareness to DREAM and to shed light on the issues regarding foster care to the public. Representatives from DREAM are speaking to local organizations to promote community awareness. DREAM has contracted with Garcia Architecture & Design to do the initial plans. Currently sewer and water studies are being performed to access feasibility and to help provide cost analysis for a five year plan.
